Item Description
Chteau Cos D'Estournel is regarded by many as the finest wine within the northern commune of Saint Estphe . Its is one of the most colorful in Bordeaux and is associated with iconic figures of the 19th century. Indeed Cos d'Estournel was lauded by Queen Victoria, the Tsar of Russia and Napoleon III who ordered several thousand bottles to be sent to the Palace of the Tuileries. In more modern history, the 2004 was lost in the hype over the historic 2005 vintage. Wine Spectators 94 points and Parkers 93 attest to the star quality of this outstanding 2004 classic Bordeaux. Parker wrote an exceptional wine displaying a dense ruby/purple color as well as a sweet perfume of boysenberries, black currants, cherries, pain grille, roasted herbs, and licorice. Medium-bodied with impressive density for the vintage, sweet tannin, and outstanding richness and length, it should be at its finest between 2009 and 2020+. The Spectator described Loads of currant and blackberry, with hints of Indian spices. Full-bodied, with velvety tannins and a long, caressing finish. Round and generous for the vintage. Best after 2011.
