Item Description

Robert Parker wrote Lynch Bages, ranked a fifth-growth in the 1855 classification, consistently performs at a second-growth level and described that its wines have been some of the most popular and successful to emerge from Bordeaux. Much of the vineyards success is owed to Jean-Michel Cazes, whose family has owned this property since 1939. Following Jean-Michels retirement in 2005, his son, Jean-Charles, has successfully managed the Chteau. Parker wrote what is so appealing about Lynch Bages is that it has long been a classic Pauillac that, while not the most tannic and backward wine of the appellation, clearly possesses what most wine insiders love about Pauillac lots of robust, rich, full-bodied crme de cassis fruit, 25-30 years of aging potential in top vintages, and an enormously satisfying, complex style. Parker cited that 1995 looks to be an exceptional Bordeaux vintage with the finest wines emerging from Pomerol, St.-Julien, Pauillac, and St.-Estphe. Giving the Lynch Bages 91 points in his June 2000 review, Parker described the 1995 as a beautiful wine with an evolved personality and low acidity. The wine exhibits abundant quantities of earthy, smoke and tobacco-tinged, black currant fruit, rich, concentrated, medium to full-bodied flavors, and moderate tannin in the long finish. It is successful, but nowhere near full maturity with an anticipated maturity of 2005-2020. So here you have a great Bordeaux from an excellent vintage that is in the middle of its well kept adolescence ready to come out of the cellar for you to enjoy now or be laid down until it reaches a drinking age of at least 21.
