Item Description

Robert Parker has often called Ducru Beaucaillou The Lafite Rothschild of St. Julian" and stated Chteau Ducru-Beaucaillou is for many, the quintessential Saint Julien; a name revered by connoisseurs from the Home Counties of England to Oriental collectors. Under the aegis of Francis Borie and his son Jean-Eugne, a succession of admirable wines established Ducru-Beaucaillou as one of finest exponents of Cabernet Sauvignon in the whole of Bordeaux. Ducru-Beaucaillou's 2003 vintage scored 97 points from WS and the 2005 earned a score of 95-100 flirted with perfection. In a year over shadowed by its surrounding vintages, this 2004 is an overlooked gem. Of the 2004, Parker gave 92-94 points and said One cant say enough about the efforts Bruno Borie is pouring into this wonderful estate and noting an undeniable success, the 2004 Ducru boasts sweet aromas of creme de cassis, spring flowers, pain grille, licorice, and road tar. This pure, medium-bodied wine possesses moderately high tannin, superb concentration, good sweetness, and low acidity. Give it 2-3 years of cellaring and drink it over the following 25 years". While this wine may not have been as perfect as it's 2005 sibling, it remains closer than most ever will achieve and an exceptional example from this classic Chateau. This is a treasure in its own right that should be part of any serious Bordeaux collection.
