Item Description
Often referred to as 'the king of wines and the wine of kings, Barolo is considered one of the finest and long-lived of Italian wines, some say among all wines. In that tradition, Cascina Adelaide has been a working winery with its own cru vineyards for over 100 years. Relatively unknown outside of the region for most of this time, Cascina Adelaide began modernization under new ownership in 1999 and their reputation has grown due to consistent ratings above 90 in both the Wine Spectator and Wine Enthusiast and the winner of 5 stars in Decanter Magazine. This Barolo Preda vintage won a 91 point rating in Wine Spectator, and its appeal is clear, noting aromas of plum and blackberry, with hints of truffle, lead to a full-bodied palate. Shows sweet strawberry flavors and hints of vanilla, with velvety tannins and a long finish. This relatively small production Barolo is noted for having the character of a traditional Barolo, particularly as it ages, but also is said to drink well even soon after release. So pick this up to drink now or put it away to savor later, but be sure to enjoy this wine of kings.
