Item Description
Robert Parker wrote Things just seem to get better and better at Pahlmeyer, a long-standing, brilliant, remarkably consistent source for one of Napas finest Merlots, Chardonnays, and Pinot Noirs. Here are three 94+ point selections ready to enjoy. Of the 2006 Pahlmeyer Chardonnay, Parker wrote Ever since Demi Moore tried to seduce Michael Douglas in the blockbuster movie Disclosure, Pahlmeyers Chardonnay has been a hot ticket. What might get lost in the glare of Hollywood is that the wine is superb... Slightly fuller-bodied, with zesty acidity and fabulous notes of brioche, quince, and again some leesiness, the wine has a nice greenish hue to the light gold color, subtle smoke, and a dense, rich mouthfeel... Jayson Pahlmeyer and his exuberant winemaker, Erin Green, who apprenticed for Helen Turley for many years, are turning out some fabulous wines. WA gave this Chardonnay 95 points and WS gave it 90 noting that it needed bottle time and would be best if cellared and drunk in 2012 - how convenient for you. Also perfectly aged according to WS are the Merlot and Proprietary Red. WS called Pahlmeyer a consistently outstanding Merlot and Parker points out that Pahlmeyers Merlot was the uncontested top California Merlot for many years and despite new competition remains one of the classic examples of just how great Merlot can be in Napa. His review gave 94 points stating the 2006 exhibits sweet chocolate, mocha, cola, black cherry, and plum aromas and flavors as well as full body, a sumptuous, dense texture, and no hard edges. The beautifully integrated acidity, tannin, and wood result in a hedonistic, mouthfilling, luscious Merlot. Of the signature Proprietary Napa Valley Red, Parker raved with 95 points Sweet, smoky, meaty aromas interwoven with melted asphalt, camphor, blackberry, cassis, and charcoal scents emerge from the complex aromatics. In the mouth, the wine is full-bodied, displaying sweet tannin, a concentrated mouthfeel, and a long, heady finish with substantial fruit, glycerin, and extract. It should drink beautifully for 20+ years. This is a tremendous trio.
