Item Description

Olympic gold and silver medalist Tommy Moe donned his first pair of skis while most three-year-olds were still adjusting to their first steps. He was introduced to skiing on the slopes of Big Mountain,Montana. In 1986 he was named to the US Ski Team. Eight years later, at the age of 23, Moe won the Olympic Downhill in Lillehammer, Norway. This thrilling performance in Lillehammer in 1994 was one for the history books. Moe won Olympic gold in the downhill and then on his birthday, four days later, he won silver in the super G. With this impressive feat, Moe cemented his place in history, becoming the first US alpine skier to win two medals in the same Olympics. Moe went on to defend his title in 1998 in Nagano, Japan and then retired from the U.S. Ski Team.
