About the Artist
Nicholas Vito Macchio was born in Hells Kitchen, NYC on November 24, 1951 into an artistic Italian Greek family.
By the age of five, Macchio was already winning awards for his art. He graduated from college with a degree in Advertising Art and Design and he began his career as assistant Art Director for a major magazine. After some time, however, he committed himself more and more to his independent career as an artist.
He is a staunch advocate of animal rights and Nicholas nobly volunteered much of his time and artwork to advocacy groups.
He is avidly sought after for his portraits, urbanscapes and commissions and his work is collected by some of the most prestigious art collectors, including Smith Barney, NHL, Al Pacino, S.U.N.Y., P.E.T.A., and the Sinatra Family.
