About the Artist
Henri Matisse was born in 1869 in France and died in 1954 in Nice. Art meets Art. One of this century's most celebrated artists is certainly Henri Matisse.
Henri Matisse embodied a style and personality that has become nearly synonymous with words like bright and radiant. For over 60 years, Matisse created artwork that would become appreciated and admired in museums and collections throughout the world. He is considered one of this centuries greatest art masters, like Claude Monet, Vincent Van Gogh, and Pablo Picasso.
He began his journey into art with a wild and colorful art movement called Fauvism. After this, his life and legacy as an artist would change the direction of modern art.
