About Erin Whitten
Born in 1971 in New York, Erin Whitten rose to fame in the world of professional hockey. On 30 October 1993 Whitten played with the Toledo Storm against Dayton and scored the winning point, making her the first woman to ever win a professional hockey game. Whitten also became the first woman to play a game in the American Hockey League. During her career she has played on a number of professional men's teams, including the Dallas Freeze, the Toledo Storm, the Utica Blizzard, the Muskegon Furty, and the Flint Generals. Whitten was awared the 1994 USA Hockey Women's Player of the Year and was named Outstanding Goaltender in the 1994 World Championships. Today Whitten is the Associate Head Coach for the University of New Hampshire Wildcats.
