About Jari Kurri
Jari Pekka Kurri was born in Helsinki, Finland in 1960 and it wasn't long into his hockey career when he began making a name for himself. Kurri began his professional career in 1977 in Finland, followed by years with the Edmonton Oilers, the HC Milano Devils, the Los Angeles Kinds, the New York Rangers, the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, and the Colorado Avalanche. When he left the game, Kurri was the highest scoring European-born player in NHL history. In addition to his talent and fortitude that have allowed for such a remarkable career, his formed close bonds with other hockey greats; the hockey legend Wayne Gretzky is his children's godfather! Kurri was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2001.
