Despite the Grand Slam once again eluding him, Andy Murray's performances at Wimbledon this year (2011) inspired me to pick up my pastels and get creative again!

As well as being the British No. 1 Tennis player, Andy Murray is also a supporter of many charities and causes. Last month, at Wimbledon, he was presented with canvas prints of original artwork by John Trevillion, which had been commissioned by the Daily Mail, capturing the various moods and actions of the Tennis Ace. Andy had been impressed with the original drawings - so much so, he had posted them on his Facebook page! However, instead of keeping the unique prints, he signed each one and then donated them to "Tickets for Troops" - a cause set up just last year to provide top tickets for sporting, musical and entertainment events to troops and their families during these difficult times.

This painting, created during Wimbledon 2011, is my tribute to Andy Murray in recognition of his sporting tenacity and his generous spirit.

About the Artist

Tracie Koziura has been exhibiting her art internationally since 2008. Her biggest passion is wolves which are the main subject of her work although she also enjoys creating a variety of other subjects including landscapes, portraits, wildlife and domestic animals. Specialising in pastels, charcoal and tinted graphite, Tracie's images are realistic, inviting the viewer to connect with the subjects character and inner spirit. Despite being a relative newcomer to the world of art her work has been described as sensitive, adventurous and alive.

"I love the freedom creating art gives me; to explore; to study; to learn about the world around me and all that exists within it. Art has opened my eyes to so many things I had taken for granted - unique subtleties I had been too busy to notice. When I paint, the world comes to a halt; the details of life come into focus. It is truly addictive, this desire to create!"
