Item Description

Pastel, framed 31" x 41" (image size 20" x 30")
"The Clematis is a hardy, beautiful and accessible climber that is gently fragrant and a magnet for homey bees. The nearly pure white flowers form radial stars like the Star Sapphire of India, an immutable pattern in Nature. Their leaves are branching heart shapes, their vines spiraling, as DNA. Does their breathtaking beauty cause suspension of judgement?
An exhibition of large pastels was curated by Henry Geldzahler, the former curator of 20th Century Painting at The Metropolitan Museum ofArt and exhibited at the Clayton Liberatore Gallery, in Bridgehampton.
"Tuma's best pictures are pastels drawn with a rich impasto-like densityof color. Tuma has taken O'Keeffe to a different level in her own style."
