KISS OF THE SPIDER WOMAN
1993
Beware of Aurora, the signature Spider Woman first portrayed by Broadway legend Chita Rivera in the 1993 musical Kiss Of The Spider Woman. In this interpretation of the Broadway original costume designed by Florence Klotz, our Aurora bear is sure to find its way into your heart. She wears a stunning gown of red satin-back crepe with high neck and diamond-shaped open back. The deep armhole sleeves with full caps and tight cuffs are reminiscent of 1940s Hollywood glamour, as is the deep pleat in the back of the skirt. Silver-lined red-glass seed beads are individually stitched over the bodice and shoulders on the gown. This beading continues along the edges of the chiffon as it drapes down from the back of the neck. Underneath, she wears high-cut briefs made of black mesh spandex. Under her floor-length dress, Aurora wears a set of matching red high heels. Adorning her right hand is an understated red rhinestone ball ring. Her look is topped by a sleek, black bob that replicates the hairstyle worn in the show.
