Item Description
Learn to bake Soda Bread with Mary Munford's favorite Irishman - Mr. Vassar! You and your child (or your child & a friend) will spend a Saturday morning in the teachers' resource room kitchen with Mr. Vassar learning to make Irish soda bread. And not just any soda bread - Westmeath Spotted Dog (a special buttermilk soda bread with currants, golden raisins, and black raisins), an ancient recipe of the Fay family brought over from County Westmeath, Ireland in the 19th century and now enjoyed by fourth graders in Mr. Vassar's class. Besides helping your child to bake a few loaves of bread to bring home for your family, Vassar will spring for lunch and some hot tea to round off an excellent session devoted to one of Ireland's favorite foods.
