Item Description
Beehives & Buzzcuts is a brand new children’s salon and retail store located directly across the street from the family-friendly Peter Cooper Village and Stuyvesant Town developments in New York City. This store is 100% dedicated to giving children a fun, interactive, exciting experience, whether they are getting their hair cut, having their nails painted, or attending a class or having a party in our 500 square foot event space.
Beehives and Buzzcuts owner, Karolyn Massey, was inspired by her young niece, Corinne, to leave the corporate finance arena behind to create this oasis for children. Karolyn noticed how much Corinne loved to get pampered just like the grown-up girls, but also how she struggled to fit into the chairs at adult salons. The stark décor and the oftentimes un-child-friendly stylists caused Corinne a lot of stress when it came time to trim her locks. When Corinne accompanied her mom and aunt to the nail salon, her little legs dangled above the warm, swirling water in the pedicure chairs and she had to prop herself up on the heels of her feet just to catch a glimpse of the manicurists' work. Karolyn knew that if a place existed where Corinne could be glammed up, but was specially designed to fit her small frame and staffed with energetic, bubbly kid-friendly stylists, she’d be in heaven!
