Item Description

"Forsythia in Spring" is a framed 12" x 12" giclee print of one of artist Diana Johnson's original pastels.  This piece features one of spring's most quintessential blooms.

Artist Statement:

"The focus of my work is the Maine landscape. I look for places that elicit both a sense of rest and rejuvenation while paying attention to the fluid effects of radiant energy on land, water, and air. The more a painting seems to emit energy, as if from the paper or canvas itself, the happier I am with the results. I try to suggest, with pigment, the essential vitality and liveliness that is inherent in tranquil, peaceful places.

I work primarily in oil and pastel. Original paintings are framed in traditional, quality gold wood frames. Paintings that are under glass are matted with archival museum board in an off-white color. I produce calendars, note cards, and matted reproductions of my work.

I am honored to retain Signature Member status with the Pastel Society of America. My works are exhibited in Maine galleries and have been included in New York exhibitions at the National Arts Club and at the Salmagundi Club."

This item was donated in memory of Jean Badran.
