Item Description
"Salt and Pepper Sunrise" is an original 10" x 10" oil on canvas piece by artist Andrea Sawyer of Casco, Maine.
Artist Information
Andrea Sawyer paints the effects of light transformed by the Atlantic Ocean on waterfront buildings & white ironstone diner mugs. Her intimate small oils & larger-format streetscapes speak of a human presence - a there & then or here & now that is timeless and trendless.
“A Portland area native, I practice painting as meditation & work to put on the canvas precisely what the subject says to me, without judgment or filter. My words to live by: "Show up, pay attention, tell the truth, don't get attached to the results." convey not only my world view but my painting discipline. For many years I've split my time between Southern Maine & Provincetown MA; I cannot live – or paint - where I can't smell salt in the air. I will be spending the next twelve months on a painting - and life - sabbatical in Provincetown."
Andrea is represented by Yarmouth Frame Shop and Gallery, Yarmouth ME, Art 3 Gallery, Manchester NH, and Charles-Baltivik Gallery, Provincetown MA
