On course instruction, video analysis and playing strategy makes this program a "must" attend for any woman seeking to advance her game in a non-intimidating environment.

INDIAN WELLS GOLF ACADAMY

POSITION STATEMENT:

The Indian Wells Golf Academy has been developed to enhance Indian Wells Country Club’s reputation as one of the premier clubs in the Coachella Valley.  The Academy will provide members and their guests with superior quality golf instruction in an atmosphere and facility geared towards members and their family’s recreational needs, while meeting Indian Wells Country Club’s economic expectations.

GENERAL OVERVIEW:

The Indian Wells Golf Academy is a part of the Indian Wells Country Club Golf Department.  The Academy will increase awareness of the Indian Wells Country Club and its surrounding community.  The main focus and goal is to develop the members’ golf skills to increase the overall enjoyment received from the Indian Wells Country Club golfing experience (in both social and business circumstances.)

The Indian Wells Golf Academy offers private golf instruction and golf schools from our two nationally renowned teaching professionals; David Hunter (recognized by Golf Magazine as one of the Most Outstanding Teachers in the country and nominated for national P.G.A Teacher of the Year) and Amy Bentz (an 18 year L.P.G.A Tour veteran with over 26 years of experience in the golf world, both as a player and as an instructor.)  These award winning instructors each have impressive records with teaching Professionals and amateurs alike.

With teaching strategies that ignore the conventional, David and Amy’s teaching skills and integrative programs connect the student physically, technically and emotionally so you can play better, play longer and enjoy the game through each stroke.  The instruction is designed to integrate what you already do well with what you need to know in order to take your game to the next level.

PRIVATE INSTRUCTION:

The Indian wells Golf Academy offers private golf instruction from one of our P.G.A certified teaching professionals. Private instruction is geared towards students who demand individualized instruction and want to fine tune their skill set in the different areas of their game.

DAVID HUNTER

CALLAWAY MASTER STAFF GOLF PROFESSIONAL

P.G.A. Golf Professional David Hunter was born in Scotland and grew up in England.  After playing several years on the European and South African Tours in the late 80’s; he moved to the United States and played on the mini tours before accepting his first position at Columbus Country Club in Ohio. In 1990 David was recruited for the position of Director of Golf at New Albany Country Club; a Jack Nicklaus 27 Hole Signature Golf Course and new development in a suburb outside of Columbus, Ohio.  Most recently, David was the Facility Manager and Head Golf Professional at Scratch Golf Accelerated in Poway, California  where he worked with Rick Smith, former teacher of Phil Mickelson and one of the top golf instructors in the world, to develop a core teaching curriculum for Scratch Golf.

David’s passion for teaching and growing the game of golf using innovative instructional programs for men, women and juniors brought him recognition both at a regional and national level within the P.G.A of America.  David was the recipient of the Southern Ohio and Central Ohio P.G.A. Teacher of the Year in 2002, 2003 and 2004 and was nominated for the National P.G.A. Teacher of the Year in 2004.  In addition, he was honored by the National Council of the P.G.A. of America from 2005-2009 for growing the game of golf.

David has been featured in several golf publications; including recognition as a “Top Teacher in Ohio” by Golf Digest and by Golf Magazine as one of America’s “Most Outstanding Teachers.”

His past students have included individually ranked High School, Collegiate, L.P.G.A and P.G.A Tour players who have experienced success on tour; including Joe Ogilvie, a current member and winner on the P.G.A Tour.

David and his wife now live in Palm Desert.  He is excited to join the Indian Wells Country Club family and share with you his love for the game and his innovative instructional programs.  David looks forward to meeting all of you out on the links this season!
