Item Description
Out of the pages of the American Dream comes the story of McSwiggans. Once upon a time, Aidan Boyle purchased a local bar and embarked on a complete reconstruction. In February 1999 McSwiggans opened its doors to the thirsty of Hoboken to immediate acclaim.
After years of success, McSwiggans was completely destroyed by a devastating fire in January 2008. Uncowed by the destruction, Aidan set to work anew to rebuild McSwiggans.
That September, McSwiggans opened remodeled doors once more, with a Celtic-inspired Phoenix incorporated into the design, inspired by the myth of the fire-reborn creature. The reopening was honored with a cake by Chef Buddy of Carlo’s Bakery and Cake Boss fame.
Today, McSwiggans is a unique find – bearing the congenial atmosphere of the traditional Irish pub, the hearty camaraderie of the sports bar, and the uptempo excitement of a trendy nightspot – depending on when you visit! Come to McSwiggans and you’ll see what we mean! Slàinte!
Located at 110 First Street in Hoboken.
