Item Description

A Riot of Color: Embellished Felt Collage

This felted wool collage is a cornucopia of colors, shapes, fibers, textures, and varying densities. It was created using wool roving and embellished with glass, wood, and shell beads, buttons, sequins of various shapes, sizes and colors, sparkly fibers, rough fibers, silky-smooth fibers, various embroidery stitches and braided wool.

The whole is a bustle of color and activity, with every part contributing: Dr. Seuss-ical swirly twirls, fungal flowery forest floors, neon greens.... It’s a multi-sensory tapestry of the imagination!

On the back of the piece, Village Home teacher Debra Pearce (whose sheep provided most of the wool!) describes the process of its creation:

“This piece of artwork was started as a community project during the "Summerfest" event 2011 and completed on March 6th, 2012 by the participants of the Fiber Fun class at Village Home Education Resource Center.”

Approximately 33” tall, 45” wide (on average), 11.8 oz.

Item Special Note
