Item Special Note
Michael Morgenstern illustrates for many of the world’s leading publishers, including The Economist, The Washington Post, and Random House, among many others. He developed his unique style of collaging and painting digitally with textures while living and working in New York City. With degrees in film and education, he came to the visual arts after a traumatic event which left him with the use of only his left hand. Michael began cutting and pasting images as a way of gaining dexterity. He went on to study classical painting technique, drawing and graphics at The School of Visual Arts and later, Bezalel. Morgenstern started illustrating for The New York Times in 1996, and became popular among the many art directors in the publishing field. He has since been recognized by Print, Spectrum, American Illustration, and was voted this year as “one of the two hundred best illustrators worldwide” by Luerzer’s Archive.
