Item Description

Spanish Wine Collection:

Bodegas Verduguez Paso a Paso Verdejo 2009

ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC. 100 percent VERDEJO. This succulent, aromatic and lush wine is not your ordinary Verdejo. It offers up ample ripe peach, warm pear, and vibrant apricot notes on the nose. The palate is unctuous and decadently rich with pretty stone fruit notes that play off the wineAs moderate, barrel-aged oak foundation. It is backed by deep minerality and rich acidity, both of which carry into the long, lingering finish. This ASuper-VerdejoA is ideal with oysters on the half shell, fresh sea scallops or lobster sauteed in sweet butter.

Bodegas Muga Rioja Blanco 2009

Aromas which tell us that it has spent a little time in the oak, cloaking it with a veneer of vanilla. A very bright, clear white wine which is packed with aromas of citrus and white-fleshed fruit, pears and their hearts. With freshness, a freshness which lingers on the palate, with these citrus nuances which are alive, with this passion which is expressed in all its elements. A magical, really fruity white.

Paso a Paso Tempranillo La Mancha 2009

A perennial Wine Advocate “best buy”, the 2009 Paso a Paso Tinto is 100% Tempranillo that spent six months in French oak.  It offers up aromas of violets, exotic spice, and chalky black cherry.  In the mouth, medium-bodied and very smooth with ripe, spicy, almost savory flavors of black cherry and plum accented by pretty spice and floral notes.  Enough tannin for food, soft enough to enjoy on its own.  Very fine value.

Garnacha de Fuego, 2009

The Wine Advocate 87 pts - Jay Miller
The 2009 Garnacha de Fuego was sourced from 60- to 80-year-old vines at 3000 feet of elevation, insane for an $8 wine. Aside from the price, the other piece of good news is that there are 6500 cases for the USA market. Purple-colored with spicy black cherry aromas that jump from the glass, this is a forward, friendly, ripe effort with no hard edges. Drink this crowd-pleaser over the next 2-3 years.
