PROMISES, PROMISES (2010 Revival)
2010
On September 7, 2010, comedian and talk show host Ellen DeGeneres made a surprise one-night-only appearance in the Broadway revival of Promises, Promises. After filming a segment on David Letterman’s Late Show, she hoofed it across the street to the Broadway Theatre, playing the nurse in a performance that brought down the house. She mispronounced (most likely on purpose) another character’s name, prompting star Sean Hayes to adlib, “You’re new here, aren’t you?” to the delight of the audience. Our Nurse bear recreates this special moment in Broadway history. She wears a white cotton nurse’s blouse and skirt, with a warm sweater sure to keep the chill away. She wears a traditional 1960s nurse’s cap, trimmed in black over her cropped blonde hair. Standing all day at the hospital makes sensible shoes a necessity, so our Nurse wears comfy, yet stylish, Keds - in white, of course. Only one lucky audience got to experience this night and now you can be one-up on all of them when you take this one-of-a-kind Nurse bear home.
