Item Description

George M. Cohan
GEORGE M!
1968

He was known as “the man who owned Broadway.” George M. Cohan ruled the stage in Broadway’s early days. He is the only actor ever to be immortalized with a statue in Times Square and now the man who played him on Broadway has immortalized him in one of our bears. As played by the legendary Joel Grey, the man who gave us "The Yankee Doodle Boy," "You’re a Grand Old Flag" and Forty-five Minutes from Broadway wears his costume from his 1904 musical Little Johnny Jones. Johnny bear wears a white shirt under a rust-and-tan checkered riding suit. His green vest complements the colors of the suit. Black ankle boots, a white ascot and cap in the matching suit fabric give our bear the finishing touches. Any guesses what Johnny does for a living? The included riding crop might give you a hint. Give this bear’s regards to Broadway. He’s riding high in Britain but he’ll be back ere long.
