Item Description
This pair of handcrafted earrings from Burnt Metal Designs is made of sterling silver, brass and copper. Measure 1" wide and hang 1.5" long. Wire backings.
Karen Lipiatos, owner and designer at Burnt Metal Designs, began making jewelry in 1975 in Boston's North End, at the North Bennett St. School. Through the years she has worked for jewelry manufacturers, repair shops, and even did a short stint as a pearl matcher. Today she experiences true satisfaction in sculpting her own designs from metals and stones, and leaves manufacture and repairs to others.
Inspiration for new designs emerge as she glimpses lines, forms, patterns, colors and shapes all around her. It may come from the natural world, or others' handiwork in her domain. Ideas bubble up in her mind at unexpected times like while driving or sitting in meetings. Making jewelry allows her to capture feelings she cannot express in any other way.
