Item Description

The technique used  was a combination of Japanese Block Print with tempera paint  over a liquid-watercolor background and Aboriginal Dream Art using both tempera dot painting and marker for map signs.  The students worked in 2 sessions the first session they used liquid-watercolor for the background working in a horizontal fashion and then applying a rubber animal form that was dipped in tempera paint and detailed with dot painting. Some students chose to highlight the animals or other images in their work bringing in a fossil like feeling.  The 2nd session was to imprint their borders. The students researched the different markings the Aborigines used for map communications. They choose their designs and implemented them with both dot painting in tempera paint and detailed signs in marker.

This was a one of our many projects in the student's quest to research and share our different heritages.

EMILY B. created this work of aboriginal art.
