“We had the privilege of staying at the Swain summer home in the ‘pueblo blanco’ (white village) of Gaucin Spain in the Andalusian Mountains. Their three-story home was spacious, beautiful, and well-appointed, with a useful kitchen, TV and DVD player. The balcony allowed us to watch the sunrise and enjoy the stunning view of the Andalusian coast facing toward the Mediterranean sea and Morocco, as well as the town’s Moorish castle. At one of the highes points in town, the home allowed us ample opportunity to walk throughout the town and visit its shops, sites and restaurants. The small town has a big history, reflecting the various peoples and cultures inhabiting Spain, complete with an ancient church and a castle and various ruins. From Gaucin, we easily explored the Coast and such destinations as Ronda (famous bullfighting town and featured in novels), Andalusian coastal towns such as Estepona, the Selwo animal park and zoo, and Malaga (with the Picasso museum honoring his birth place). We cannot recommend this property highly enough as a centerpiece of a dream vacation in Spain.”
