Item Description
The Otters have been studying the wetlands and the bay and all of the different life forms that they support, sea otters among them. Groups of sea otters are referred to as “rafts” because they will often wrap themselves in kelp and hold on to one another in order to stay together while they are resting or sleeping. One famous pair of sea otters held hands even in captivity so that they wouldn't drift away from one another. This quilt represents a raft of the third graders as sea otters. Each child created his or her own sea otter out of fabric pieces and paint, identified with beaded names.
