Item Description
Admit it, you’ve watched the reality dance shows and thought to yourself, “Heck, I bet I could do a better Foxtrot than that guy.” Or maybe you've secretly dreamed of dancing, if only you’d had ballet enrichments as a kid, or if only your partner would cooperate. Either way, bring yourself (with or without a partner!) to the first-ever CDS So You Think You Can’t Dance, hosted by Master Teacher, international ballroom dance competitor, third-place runner-up for this year’s North American Women’s Standard Championship - and CDS parent - Melissa Saphir. There will be clear and lively instruction, fun social dancing to great music, comic competitive interludes starring some of our very own CDS celebrities, and hilarity all around.
Here’s the scoop:
There will be 30-minute beginning dance lessons to get everyone started in three different styles:
* Waltz: A traditional, somewhat formal dance that swoops and sways to bittersweetly romantic music.
* East Coast Swing: Also called Jitterbug, this is upbeat, bouncy dancing for happy swing and jazz music.
* Salsa: Fun and flirtatious enjoyment of Latin music, just as easily danced solo as with a partner.
No partner is needed to participate in the lesson and social dancing afterward. Melissa will keep the followers and leaders rotating, thereby ensuring that you finally meet all those parents you’ve never said hi to at Friday Coffee. And if you do come with a partner, Melissa will make sure that you're still on speaking terms with your partner when the social dancing starts!
