This evocative piece is an experimental self-portrait / double exposure from the 1930s. It depicts a couple on a beach holiday, a cheerful woman and serious man gazing directly at the camera. Superimposed is a self portrait of the same man, this time with a joyful expression.

Vernacular family photograph 29 3/4" x 19 7/8" self portrait /double exposure mounted on to aluminum. American circa 1938. Produced from the original photograph using Fuji Crystal Archive paper. Mounted onto Aluminum with UV Luster lamination.
