Fabergé Eggs became a tradition of the Romanovs beginning in 1885 when Tsar Alexander III commissioned Peter Carl Fabergé's workshop to create a special Easter egg for his wife, Maria Fedorovna to commemorate the most joyful celebration of the Russian Orthodox faith.
