 with a  Undefeated Season (32-0)

Lennie Rosenbluth, Pete Brennan, Joe Quiqq, Danny Lotz and Joel Fleishman

LENNIE ROSENBLUTH:  Lennie now lives in Chapel Hill where in the mid-1950s he and the North Carolina basketball team made history with an undefeated season and a national championship victory over Kansas and Wilt Chamberlain. The New York City native led the Tar Heels in scoring in his first varsity season and still holds the school record for points in a season (895) and scoring average in a single season (28.0). He averaged 28 points a game in the 1957 NCAA Tournament and got 20 against Chamberlain’s Jayhawks. He was named in 2002 to the ACC’s 50th Anniversary men’s team and was selected to the “All-Decade Final Four” team for the 1950s. He is a member of the Helms College Basketball Hall of Fame and is regarded by many as one of the 100 greatest college basketball players of all time. He is a member of the International Jewish Sports Hall of Fame. Lennie will be inducted into the North Carolina sports Hall of fame on May 10,2012.

PETE BRENNAN: Leading scorer and rebounder on UNC-Chapel Hill’s 1957 NCAA basketball championship team. Led the ACC in scoring (21.3) and rebounding (11.7) as a senior in 1958. Was ACC Player of the Year, a Dixie Classic MVP, and All-America selection. Pete was inducted into the North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame in 2007.

JOE QUIGG: Quigg grew up in south Brooklyn, became a star at St. Francis Prep averaging 25 points a game, but made his mark wearing a North Carolina basketball uniform. He was part of the fabled New York package that also included Pete Brennan, Tommy Kearns, LennieRosenbluth and Bob Cunningham plus senior captain Jerry Vayda, a team that at 18-5 became co-conference champions. It was a turn-around year for UNC. But Quigg would forever became known as a cool customer when, with just 10 seconds remaining in the national championship game against Kansas and Wilt Chamberlain, he calmly sank two free throws, then slapped away an in-bound pass attempt to Chamberlain for the 1957 national title. Quigg has remained in Fayetteville in the years since and has retired as a dentist.

Danny Lotz: Danny  was the sixth man on the team and played a big role in the success of the team. He is a retired dentist . He resides in  Raleigh and leads Bible study groups in Raleigh and Chapel Hill.

Joel Fleishman: Was the manager of the team and resides in Greensboro.
