Item Special Note
Kimberlee Smith's Story:
My first visit to the South of France was with my family in 1967. My father, Col. Robert Norman Smith, USMC was stationed on the USS Springfield with the 6th Fleet.
He was one of two Marine Corps officers on the admirals ship. It was the last American ship to be stationed in Villefranche sur Mer as France and General De Gaulle withdrew from NATO that year.
I have grandiose memories of being here as a little girl, and have been coming back ever since. I love this area and attribute it to Dad, who was a Wyoming Sem graduate. We have a scholarship set up in his name.
