Item Description

The characters who populated Company One's critically acclaimed production of Tarell Alvin McCraney's BROTHER/SISTER PLAYS in the fall were named for the Orisha, dieties from the Yoruba religious tradition.

Boston artist Stephen Hamilton is also inspired by this rich mythology.  View his colorful series of Orisha portraits at his website: http://theartofstephenhamilton.com

Stephen Hamilton, painter and illustrator based in Boston, focuses on the aesthetics and philosophies inherent throughout Africa and the Diaspora. Hamilton has created a 24" by 48" painting made with acrylic and spray-paint on board of the African god, "oshun".
