Daniel Kramer is a renowned New York City based photographer who worked with Bob Dylan in the key years 1964 and 1965, and who was responsible, among other things, for the cover photography on two of Dylan’s most important albums, the groundbreaking Bringing It All Back Home and its incendiary follow up, Highway 61 Revisited.
Daniel Kramer’s archive is breathtaking - in addition to the 1965 album cover sessions, he spent time on the road and in private with Bob Dylan in 1964 and 1965, was in the recording studio in January 1965 when Bob recorded Bringing It All Back Home and later that year, Like a Rolling Stone.
He also photographed the electric performance with The Hawks at Forest Hills Tennis Stadium on August 28, 1965, which is the subject of this amazing image.
Hailed by many as "the best pictures of Bob Dylan ever made," Kramer’s work was highlighted in Martin Scorsese's No Direction Home: Bob Dylan, the first feature-length film biography of Bob Dylan. His photographs have also been exhibited or collected by such museums as the Whitney Museum of American Art, The International Center of Photography in New York; The Smithsonian's National Portrait Gallery in Washington, DC; The Experience Music Project in Seattle; The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland; and in numerous national and international galleries.
Daniel Kramer is also the author of the first major photographic book about Bob Dylan -- Bob Dylan: A Portrait of the Artist’s Early Years (1967). His fine art and commercial work has also been published in LIFE, TIME, Fortune and other magazines.
