Item Description

Have a party with the wine created on the papel lands while watching The Borgias...

The Wine - Chateauneuf-du-Pape (1.5 liters)

  • Châteauneuf-du-Pape is a French wine Appellation d'origine contrôlée (AOC) located around the village of Châteauneuf-du-Pape in the Rhône wine region in southeastern France. It is the most renowned appellation of the southern part of the Rhône Valley.
  • Winemaker's notes - A classic red Châteauneuf-du-Pape, very fine and elegant. The best vintages will age for 25 years and more
  • Critical acclaim - "Still tight, with the core of cherry and red currant fruit held in check by a mix of lightly firm sandalwood, spice, licorice root and warm stone flavors. Mulled fig and cocoa notes check in on the grippy finish. A rare backward style 2008 that will need some cellaring to round into form. Best from 2013 through 2020" - 92 Points; Wine Spectator

  • "Production for the grand vin in 2008 was down by 20-25%, and the 2008 Vieux Telegraphe Chateauneuf du Pape appears to be a soft, richly fruity wine revealing lots of raspberry and black cherry fruit intermixed with notions of nori (the seaweed wrapper found in sushi restaurants), roasted Provencal herbs, and garrigue. This lovely front end-loaded effort will be unusually precocious, so it should be drinkable upon release, and will evolve for 7-10 years."

The Borgias -

  • The series stars Oscar®-winner Jeremy Irons as Rodrigo Borgia, the cunning, manipulative patriarch of The Borgia family who builds an empire by bribing, buying and muscling his way into the papacy.  Along the way, the family commits virtually every sin in the book and invents more than a few of their own.
  • Academy Award®-winning director Neil Jordan (The Crying Game, Interview with the Vampire) will continue to serve as creator, executive producer, writer and will again direct the first two episodes.  Accompanying Jordan this season is writer and director David Leland (Wish You Were Here, Band of Brothers) who will write several episodes and also direct two episodes.  The series will again be produced as a Canadian-Irish-Hungarian Treaty co-production.
