Item Description
Do you wish you had a real lightsaber? Interested in how lasers work? Six people are invited to come for a private after-hours tour of the UCSF Dermatologic Surgery and Laser Center, where over ten Class IV lasers are used in daily medical practice. Learn how we harness the power of selective photothermolysis to treat birthmarks, tattoos, scars, unwanted hair, and more! The tour will be led by Nueva parent Sarah Arron, a dermatologic surgeon at UCSF. A brief introduction, which can be tailored to the age/interest of the group, will cover laser safety, the electromagnetic spectrum, and dermatologic lasers. Then the group will walk through the laser rooms and see the lasers in action. Special note: Due to safety considerations, this session is appropriate for middle school students and up.
