Item Description
Annie Wellborn lived in rural Georgia just north of Athens with her brother-in-law, and artist, Carter Wellborn. She was a prolific painter and a genuinely warm and loving person. Her art came from memories of her childhood and it also reflected an idyllic life set in the Georgia countryside. Her angel paintings are graceful gestures that reflected Annie's deep spiritually. Like many self-taught artists, Annie painted on a variety of surfaces including paper, old vinyl albums, wallpaper samples, construction paper and mylar. Her work is internationally known and highly collected by folk art enthusiasts. She is also in permanent collections around the country, and her works have graced the covers of magazines and cds. Annie passed away on April 23rd 2010. This print was given by George Kirkpatrick, former Headmaster of Pace Academy.
