Item Description
J.C. Ewing was born Jean Catherine Hunt, May 7, 1926 in Salinas, California. It is here that she was raised. As a young woman she moved to Oakland, married while there and had one of her two children. Her second child was born in Salinas. It was upon her return to Salinas that she became serious about painting - her preferred medium being oils. Moving to Carmel provided her with a backdrop for her paintings. She became a member of the Carmel Foundation. Jean would often give her paintings to close friends. She loved Carmel and it's friendly people. After the 1989 earthquake, she moved to Hollister, California, moving near her eldest daughter. She passed away in August, 2008.
