Brad Temkin’s series Rooftop (2010-2011) explores urban rooftop gardens and green roofs as markers in the important movement toward sustainable urban design. Here, he depicts the 22,000-square-foot green roof which debuted in 2008 at Highmark’s corporate headquarters in Pittsburgh.
Although closed to visitors, Temkin gives us access to the unexpected beauty of places like this, “elevated zones where architecture meets landscape at unexpected altitudes,” to quote a recent article about the artist in Domus Magazine.
