Rebecca Sittler shows how today’s photographers have explored and refreshed the traditional genre of still life. Here, Sittler combines her interests in performance and photographic narratives with visual sensibilities that reference Dutch and Flemish painting.
An elegant study of light and shadow, shape and pattern, the image also alludes to fragility, the domestic arena, and the artist’s role in both honoring and subverting pictorial traditions.

She has recently exhibited her work at Sam Lee Gallery in Los Angeles, Texas Woman's University and Daniel Cooney Gallery in New York.
