This lot also includes two Limited Edition Artist Books: Animals That Saw Me. Volume One (Los Angeles, The Ice Plant, 2011) and Golden Palms (J&L Books, 2007, with an essay by curator Charlotte Cotton).


Animals That Saw Me brings together the first collection of Ed Panar's most surprising and unexpected encounters with ordinary beasts -- a brief, beautifully deadpan field study (over a seventeen-year span from 1993-2010 ) of the uncanny moment of recognition between species.

The book Animals That Saw Me. Volume One, was named to Photo-Eye Best Books of 2011, Alec Soth's Top 20 Books of 2011 and Time Magazine - The Books We Loved, 2011.

About The Artist

Currently residing in Pittsburgh, Ed Panar was born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. He received  an MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art, Bloomfield Hills, MI, and a BA from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Indiana, PA.

His work has been internationally exhibited and includes solo and group  shows at the Galeria Virgilio, Sao Paulo, Brazil;Umbrage Gallery, Brooklyn, NY; New York Photography Festival, New York, NY; and Spaces Corners, Pittsburgh, PA.

Recent articles and reviews have appeared in LPV Magazine, American Photo, Photographer Asia, Photolia and Good Reads.
