Item Description
Aaronel deRoy Gruber (American, 1918-2011)
Pittsburgh Panorama, 1996
Toned gelatin silver print
Signed and dated on mat in pencil
Pittsburgh's skyline from Mount Washington is one of Aaronel's best-known images and a negative that she returned to time and time again.
This particular print is sepia toned; other versions have deeper clouds in the sky or a light wash of color in the foreground. These variants show that Aaronel's creative energy and love of experimentation never waned, not even when she entered her 90s.
