Item Description
Give a child or grandchild the gift of rowing at the Summer 2012 Youth Learn-to-Row camp with this item from Pittsford Crew. The camp offers students from the Greater Rochester area-- entering grades 8-12 in Fall 2012--the chance to learn one of the most exciting and fastest growing sports. Camp is held on the Erie Canal at the William C. Warren III Boathouse, located just off of Clover Street across from Lock #32 in Pittsford. The Erie Canal, with calm, essentially current-free, and safe waters, has proven to be one of the best places in the U.S. to learn rowing. Now in its 12th year, summer Learn-to-Row camps have taught more than 800 students how to row and provide a great way to prepare for joining any of the area's five high school rowing programs--in Pittsford, Brighton, Fairport, McQuaid, and Mercy. Many Rochester-area rowers have gone on to row at the collegiate level. Camp is a great way to spend the summer and introduces a sport that lasts a lifetime. High bidder should go to the website (www.pittsfordcrew.org) to register. During the two-week session, rowers will learn safety procedures, rowing techniques on the ergometer, and will quickly progress to rowing on the water. Each session takes place either in the morning or afternoon and is limited to 32 participants. Each session ends in an exciting mini-Regatta where kids race each other on the final morning (Saturday) of camp. Learn to Row is a safe, well-supervised place where kids can quickly experience the thrill of rowing. Sign up early to better ensure availability of a place in your first choice of sessions! Registration is open now; please register early. Class dates are June 27th-July 9th, July 11th-July 23th and July 25th-Aug 6th. Morning (9-11:30) and afternoon (1-3:30) classes are offered.
Certificate expires on 10/31/12.
