This is one-on-one instruction for what is normally a class setting. -- select from one of the following: 1. Introduction to Sewing: A Crash Course If you're a beginner, this four-hour workshop is the perfect way to become better acquainted with your sewing machine. You'll learn sewing machine operation, troubleshooting, and parts; various sewing tools and their uses; and foolproof methods for sewing a straight seam and turning corners. The class also covers types of fabric and their uses. 2. T-shirt reconstruction Entry-level Have tons of old t-shirts lying around? You can learn how to resize, cut and convert your old clothes and transform them into exciting new garments. This three-session workshop teaches you how to work with knit fabrics using a regular sewing machine, install ribbed cuffs and create some gorgeous new things to wear. You will also get to try out a serger. Please bring three to five t-shirts or knit items to cut apart and repurpose. 3. Fascinating Fascinators Entry-level Substantial or miniscule in size, fascinators are alternative headwear, typically worn as a headpiece or cocktail hat, held in place by a band, clip, pin, or comb. In this class, you will tailor a mini-fascinator to your own unique design using beads, jewels, feathers, and other adornments. The first session will be a focus on creating the base for the fascinator; several patterns will be provided. During the second session we will discuss attachment methods and various decoration possibilities.
Item Special Note
The class will take place in Oakland at the instructor's home studio. She has all the equipment (4-6 sewing machines) there. The class will have to be scheduled directly with the instructor since it's a one-on-one instruction.
