Item Description

A Friend of WXXI offers a signed, framed reverse drawing, LAKE BATHER, by Robert Burkert. Burkert has captured the water streaming from a bather rising up out of the lake. The black and white drawing is framed behind glass in a steel tone metal frame that has a complementary gray wood insert. The frame measures 28 x 42 inches. Well-known artist, Robert Burkert's early art included producing lithographs in a studio at the Watsum Museum of Fine Arts in Racine, and drawing a teen oriented comic strip for the Chicago Tribune. He won recognition in regional competitive shows while attending the University of Wisconsin, and went on to teach art at Denison University. He later became professor and head of the printmaking department at UW-Milwaukee where he remained until 1933.
