Item Description

Jon Schooler Original Oil on Canvas entitled "Cycle of Life Purifying before Rebuilding After the Federal Flood Song", 16x20".

At home in New Orleans, Louisiana, Jon Schooler has diligently held on to both his family residence and a private studio/gallery in the aftermath of Katrina. Just as tenacious with his artwork, the man behind this unequivocally unique style of oil on canvas painting has created a myriad of images using a technique that is considered both undeniably original, as well as powerful to the visual eye.

Jon appreciates the rich heritage of the "city that care forgot". The synergy of generations of artists, musicians, writers, and other creative souls continues to simmer in this place like a fine gumbo. Surrounded by a wealth of architectural and social treasures, many dating back to the seventeenth century, it is easy to understand why he wants to stay and be a part of this syntrific community.

Jon also benefits from 40 plus years as an artist living and studying in San Miguel, Mexico, where his work first garnered acclaim.

Recently inspired by a new movement in contemporary art, Jon is now delving into the world of performance art. His streamlined approach to creating masterful works in a short period has allowed audiences to be a part of the creative process. A recent "happening" occurred at the impromptu "Make Belief Art Emporium" on Oak Street, lasting from May through July of 2010.
