ABOUT THE ARTIST
Robert D. Nydam

His art is significantly influenced by science, the natural world and the search for the interconnectedness of the unknown spaces inside us and around us. Much of his work is based on images of birds, insects and patterns layered one on top of another to create a deep, complex, unified whole. He works in acrylic, mixed media and encaustic.
Bob has exhibited work at many spaces including Tirage Gallery in Pasadena, CA, Culture Clash Gallery in Salida, CO, Self-Help Graphics in Boyle Heights, CA, MA Gallery in Alhambra, CA, Kaldi Gallery in South Pasadena, CA, The Factory in Pasadena, CA, and recently at Lineage Performing Arts Center. His work is in diverse private collections including the collections of Screenwriter Matt Nix, Actor William Fichtner and Guitarist, The Edge, of U2. Bob also has been commissioned to create murals for families, businesses and schools, including a spray can mural created on-stage during a U2 concert at Oakland Coliseum in 1988. Bob’s studio is in Sierra Madre, CA. Recently his artwork was featured in a gallery scene on the USA Network show, Burn Notice.
Bob sits on the Board of Trustees at the Pasadena Museum of California Art. He has been a drawing and painting teacher of all ages, worked for Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA and was the first Artist/Teacher at Inner-City Arts, an innovative art school for children in Los Angeles, CA.
