Item Description
U.S. Rep. Ed Perlmutter, representing Colorado's 7th Congressional District, asked the Commerce City Boys and Girls Club to decorate his mask. Karol Martinez designed this mask of complimentary opposites. Named Boys and Girls Club of Metro Denver's Junior Youth of the Year, Karol began pursuing art at age10. She is an Honors Student at Kearney Middle School and is involved with Destination Imagination, plays on the volleyball, track, and basketball teams, and is involved with all aspects of Boy and Girls Club. She says her interpretation came from famous, contemporary icons in conjunction with a fascination of forces which are truly interconnected and interdependent, and are imperative for life as we know it.
