Item Description

Bid on this extradordinary lifetime opportunity for FOUR of you to spend a day with Sheriff Al Lamberti, a 34-year veteran of the Broward Sheriff’s Office, and ride in the BSO marine patrol boat, and in the helicopter.

The day provides a perfect opportunity to experience law enforcement at the top, and participate in adventures on the land, sea and air that will last a life time.  A Priceless Lifetime Experience!

See what it is like to be the Sheriff of Broward County who administers the largest fully accredited Sheriff's office in the United States with 5,800 employees and an annual operating budget of $650 million.

You will ride aboard a marine patrol boat as it patrols Broward County's extensive coastline, inland waterways, canals and thousands of acres of Everglades; these circumstances present unique challenges for law enforcement and emergency rescue operations. The responsibility to meet these challenges falls to BSO's Marine Unit, consisting of the Marine Patrol and the Dive Rescue Team.

The Marine Patrol also directs the county's hurricane flotilla plan, guiding thousands of vessels to safe harbor when severe weather conditions threaten. In the county's western areas, the Patrol covers thousands of acres of Florida's Everglades via airboat, protecting one of the world's most unique conservation areas.

BSO's Dive Rescue Team is called upon in emergency situations when life or property is threatened in any county waterway. In addition, they provide underwater recovery efforts for fatalities and vehicles and are responsible for investigating underwater crime scenes.

The Sheriff in addition to criminal apprehension and rescue operations oversees BSO's Aviation Unit that provides emergency medical transport services, assistance to other Broward County agencies, and the U.S. Coast Guard.

Where will you go on board the BSO helicopter?  It is hard to say; as it provides assistance with criminal apprehension, search and rescue operations, on-scene EMS trauma transports, locating missing persons, vehicle pursuit assistance, stolen vehicle recoveries using Lojack, SWAT and Dive Team deployment or crime scene photography.

The unit operates three American Eurocopter helicopters. The aircraft are equipped with 30 million candlepower searchlights, moving map systems, infrared detection and Lojack.
